2021 Constitution Day Debate Highlighted Internet Immunity Issues Now Before the Supreme Court
In February, the Supreme Court of the United States is hearing oralarguments on the scope of the immunity granted to Internet companies by“Section 230.” This immunity, granted by Congress in 1996 — two yearsbefore Google — is sometimes referred to as “the 26 words that created theInternet.” The Court’s decisions on the two cases before it coulddramatically reshape the Internet environment.
